Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and Rhinestones

Spike Rhinestone earrings: Forever 21 (similar here or here). Rhinestone sweatshirt: Forever 21 (similar here or here). White Shirt in Lotus Print: Choies. Green Stripe Mini Face with Black Glitter Band Watch: c/o Modify Watches. Striped Pants: DIY (tutorial here). Picaspike Studded Bow Rain Boots: Dizzy (a HauteLook purchase, available here; similar here).

Yup, I’m finally back from 3 and a half weeks in Japan – and still reeling from jetlag. It didn’t help that Oregon changed to daylight savings time while we were gone too – which meant a double whammy of time changes to adjust to. We’ve been sleeping only 4 hours in a row each night – and then taking a 3-hour nap during the day! Still so backwards. At least this coming week is Lil Tot’s Spring Break – so we can stay in and try and catch up on sleep, number 1, and everything that I haven’t been able to do for a month, number 2. Oh, and unpack, and clean the house, and…well, you get the idea. Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and Rhinestones   Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesOutfit 3.22.14: Stripes and Rhinestones It’s still chilly here in the mornings and evenings, though afternoons warm up enough to go without a coat. Yesterday I was brave enough to venture out somewhere besides the grocery store (which is pretty much all I’ve managed since getting back) and attend a jewelry trunk show downtown. (You know, that whole “get out from behind your computer” thing that sometimes as a blogger I forget to do, haha.) It seemed all of Portland was out and about during the brilliant sunshine – huge lines in front of ice cream and gelato shops, clusters of people mobbing crosswalks, friends discovering each other in the throngs outside hip restaurants – though in my sleep-deprived and non-time-adjusted state, it still all felt a bit surreal.Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesOutfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesRight now for me, comfy footwear is a must – so I threw on my recent favorite Picaspike Dizzy rain boots to schlump around in – people tend to stop me and ask where I got them (and I can’t help myself telling everyone they were only $19!). Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesPlus a cute embellished sweatshirt (that could be easily DIY’d with some sew-on or hot-fix rhinestonesOutfit 3.22.14: Stripes and Rhinestones)…since, well, it is still March.Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesThe trunk show was small and understated, but a cool local brand – which I’ll be sharing about soon. I also have lots of photos from my trip to Japan, which I’ll be posting about in the coming days once I’ve got my head on straight.Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesOutfit 3.22.14: Stripes and RhinestonesHope everyone is having a lovely weekend! If you’re local to Portland, enjoy the sunshine while you can Outfit 3.22.14: Stripes and Rhinestones

Glad you’re all back safe. How did you get those boots for only 19.00, they are listed for $49.00. Alas they don’t come in my size. Can’t wait to see photos from Japan. My son was on his way to Hong Kong when the plane went missing. I’m glad I didn’t know about it until he called to say he had arrived. Some of his friend were texting to make sure he was okay. Now he’s back in the US safe. I feel terrible for all those families. Pat S

Thank you, Pat Schwab! The boots went on sale on HauteLook and were $19 – they do sales on Dizzy-brand shoes from time to time, and the prices are usually 60-70% off retail. They’re just slip-ons, and work for me as rain, snow, winter boots here in Portland – though they’re just rubber and not lines so require a thick pair of socks. I am so glad your son was safe – good thing you didn’t know about it until after he arrived, otherwise that could have cause unimaginable worry. I can’t even comprehend what all those families are going through while they still can’t find out what happened to their loved ones. It’s just awful :-(

Thanks, BromeliadLiving! It’s disgusting how much money I can spend in Forever 21 because their designs are so fashion-forward. I always have to rein myself in though! ;-)
