Greetings from Japan

2.26.2014

Greetings from JapanYes, folks, you may have noticed a slowdown in posts this week…and that’s because I’m currently in Tokyo, Japan right now.

My mother was hospitalized earlier this month and I’ve traveled here to take care of her as she recuperates (flashback to Spring of 2012 when I did the same thing). I only just set up the internet at her place (after figuring out how to connect through a LAN cable and setting up a PPPoE on my computer after the ad-hoc connection to her computer failed…what is THAT, right??! I mean, it’s not like my Mom’s PC & Windows 7 could actually make connecting to the Internet easy or something) and with everything that’s been happening I’m quite behind on my posting, social media, tutorials, and online sharing.

I’ll be catching up slowly in the next couple days – since I’ll be here for 3-and-a-half weeks, hopefully I’ll be caught up by then. Greetings from Japan

Thanks for your patience!Greetings from Japan

Hi, hope your mom is getting better. Did you grow up in Japan? If not how long has your mom lived there. My son loves Japan. He has lived there to study at different colleges with host families on 2 occasions. He went in between his studies on a spring break which is when the Tsunami hit. Scary times. But he went back to study cause he loves it there and has made lots of friends there. Do you speak Japanese?

Hi Pat, my family moved to Japan when I was 11. I ended up going back and forth between the US and Japan for awhile, but I’ve lived in Japan 6 years total. Plus we go back to visit every year for about a month or so. That is so frightening your son was there when that tsunami hit. I hope he wasn’t in any of the areas affected and didn’t lose anyone in the aftermath. My husband’s good friend lost his father and family home that March. Yes, I speak Japanese – it’s my second language and it’s what we speak at home. If you want to hear me speaking it, search on Youtube for “Carly J. Cais speaking Japanese,” there’s an old video I uploaded of me talking to my son. :-)
